.. And a Good Time Was Had By All..

For those of you who missed it, the planning meeting held on 6/1 at Crystal Lake Hotel Lakeside was a beautiful night. Attendance was our highest yet, at 17. Some joined us for the first time (great to see Frannie, Bobby, Gordon, & Diane)! Patrick spent time discussing menus and other details. Thank you Patrick!

Many decisions were made among the group. Some were solidified; others are now in the formulation stage. The group decided to expand the reunion plans into a reunion weekend. In the planning stages, this will include an ice breaker get together on Friday evening, Sept 7th, at Camelot in Waverly. The reunion itself will be at Crystal Lake Hotel Lakeside on Saturday the 8th, beginning at 3 pm. An after party will move to Fern Hall at Crystal Lake later that evening. There are a limited number of rooms available at either Crystal Lake Hotel or Fern Hall for those who chose to stay overnight. Then to wrap up the weekend, a Sunday brunch will be held at the Ben Mar in Carbondale, giving us plenty of time to see one another and catch up after all these years. People can chose when to join us at each event over the course of the weekend. Keep in mind each event is pay as you go, with no deposit. This way you can decide for yourself when you would like to join the classmates as the weekend progresses. More information will be passed along regarding Camelot, Fern Hall and the Ben Mar as things fall into place.

What is solid now is the plan for the reunion itself as well as the menu at Crystal Lake. With Patrick's input, the group decided on a buffet which will include:
  • Appetizers- bruschetta, cheese & crackers, served prior to buffet
  • Garden Salad
  • London Broil
  • Chicken Scarpariello
  • Filet of Sole
  • Potatoes
  • Carrots
  • Assorted Desserts
  • Coffee & Tea
ALL other DRINKS, including SODA, are CASH BAR.

PRICE PER HEAD FOR THE BUFFET IS FORTY-FIVE DOLLARS,  CASH ONLY,  which includes tax and gratuity. This will be collected at arrival when you pick up your name tags at the door. You will need to be wearing a name tag to be served at the buffet. This was decided to avoid having to collect a deposit in advance, and because the class is responsible for collection of monies for the buffet as opposed to Crystal Lake.

As stated, we will be starting at 3 pm. Dress is casual, music from *our generation* will be playing in the background as we sit, visit and relax on the deck by the lake. If the reunion is as enjoyable as the planning meeting the other night, I'm sure we shall all have a wonderful time.

If you are on the email list you will be receiving an email shortly to respond whether you definitely intend to join us for the reunion itself at Crystal Lake. A followup email will arrive closer to September to determine what other optional events of the weekend (ice breaker/after party/brunch) you will be attending.

We will be running announcements in the Carbondale News to continue to reach out to alumni and other classmates who were in our classes through the years. As always, if you have any contact information on any classmate still listed in red on the Alumni page, please contact slccmailbox-reunion@yahoo.com.

Looking forward to seeing EVERYone at the reunion. In the meantime, we hope you are having a great summer!
