Hello classmates, there is a meeting Friday, June 1 at 7 pm at The Crystal Lake Hotel. We'll be discussing menus for the reunion as well as other details, so come with any ideas you'd like to discuss. Patrick will be busy but available some time during the night.

Ben Mar and Crystal Lake.. Two Nights Out!

Hi everyone, dates set (majority available) for the next reunion meetings are Friday May 18 at 7 pm at the Ben Mar where we will continue to gather information for those still not located, and Friday June 1 at 7 pm at the Crystal Lake Hotel to discuss final plans for the reunion. Patrick will be there, he said he will be very busy, but available if we do need him. He will provide menus we can look over to plan our limited reunion menu. We will then be able to get pricing for those who plan to order dinner the evening of the reunion. We can also nail down any other specifics we'd like to talk about. I made reservations for 10-12 of us at Crystal Lake since Friday is a busy night there. As always spouses are welcome.

Hoping some out of towners might be able to meet with us either of these dates. If you did not sign up on Doodle, but are planning to come, please email slccmailbox-reunion@yahoo.com so I can call Patrick and reserve a larger table at Crystal Lake for the 1st.

And finally, we will be running an announcement in the free section of the Carbondale News announcing our reunion date. We're rollin!

Manhattan Manor..

.. in C'dale. Nice job George and Mary Jane.. great place! I highly recommend it, especially the risotto balls! Several classmates met there recently and discussed continuing to try to contact those for whom we do not yet have email/snail mail addresses. We split up the list. We know you're out there. And we *will* find you   :D

At the suggestion of Maryann Spellman Young just made up a new Facebook page to aid in the hunt. One page is a friend page, Stroseclass Ofseventytwo. If you have a Facebook you know that some pages, such as that one, are able to visit other pages and leave a message. A second page, St Rose Class of 1972 Reunion, is a page that can post announcements, but cannot post on other pages. If you do not have a Facebook I believe you will be able to see some of the postings. Both are meant to aid us in our search. FRIEND US!

Next meeting is slated for the Ben Mar, JOIN US! Meeting after that will be at Crystal Lake Hotel so we can begin to finalize details with Patrick for our *big day*.  Look for a Doodle link in your next email so we can schedule those meetings. Out-of-towners will get all the Doodle links to keep you posted on when/where we are meeting, especially in case you are able to come in and meet with us.

It's Unanimous!!

Votes came in 100% for Crystal Lake Hotel Lakeside for our 40th class reunion. You can view the results of the voting poll here~> Doodle.

Just nailed down the details of the day with Patrick today. They are:

• Location: Crystal Lake Hotel Lakeside
• Date: Saturday, September 8, 2012
• Time: 3 PM to ?
• Food: Separate checks, no deposit required, order off choice of 3 limited dinner menus- Chicken/Beef/Fish. If you are vegetarian please let us know, you will be accomodated.
• Drinks: Cash bar
• Music: Compliments of Joe Guzzi
• Accomodations: Guest rooms available for overnight guests.

We will need to give a final head count 2 weeks prior to the event. From the poll it looks as though we have a very preliminary head count of 28 classmates x 2 (if most bring a guest/spouse) = 56 attendees so far. We will be polling over the next few months on your intentions to attend. As the time gets closer we will send a Doodle poll for your definite committment. We will also ask you to specify your dinner choice (beef/chicken/fish/vegetarian/no dinner) at that time. We are still trying to locate the classmates listed in red on our Alumni page. If you have any information on any of them please get in touch. We are hoping for a great turnout, we haven't all been together in years.

We will be sending an email to schedule the next reunion planning meeting. Next up on the agenda, hunting down contact information for those classmates we have not yet located, discussing any further ideas about the reunion itself. No, not for the presidential primary.. for the reunion setting! An email was sent out to everyone with whom we are in email contact to vote for where we would like to meet for our 40th. With feedback from many, the group narrowed it down to two places. See below for info on each location:

Next Reunion Planning Meeting

Reunion planning meeting will be Sat, Jan 21 at 6:30 PM at The Gravity in Waymart. We are looking at the place to decide if that's where we'd like to have the reunion. Nancy Staff, I hope you can make it in that weekend!

  

The Gravity's upside is that for the reunion it has an indoors and an outdoors to spill outside if the weather is good. It also has a small motel on grounds for out of towners who may want to book a room for the night. From others past experience there, it does not require a down payment or minimum reservation. Anyone who is going can just go, order off the menu they offer us, purchase your own drinks and pay separately. I imagine they would like some kind of head count before we show up so we can gather that as we go. The group can decide on the 21st if its *the place* for us.

  

I can't make the meeting on the 21st, Kevin C will head it up. He will be bringing a list of alumni we are still trying to locate to split up between us so we can start to hunt down those we haven't yet located.

Update!

Several topics were discussed tonight. Although someone asked to consider Labor Day Sunday, September 2, more out of town people felt that weekend didn't work because of the holiday, and so a decision was made to set the date as Saturday, September 8, 2012 with a start time for 4 PM. Save that date!

Kevin C inquired and found that the Montdale Country Club required a minimum of 75 people for their grove, plus a second fee to hold a room inside in case of inclement weather. It was felt that could become too costly, plus we have no indication that we could meet the 75 person minimum. The group discussed other outside groves, however, all of them would require a definite head count and deposit. It was decided rather than make such a commitment, with the need for money to be collected ahead of time, we would look for a place with an inside/outside to gather, order off the menu, pay separately and just relax. Sharon V suggested The Gravity Inn in Waymart where there is a large indoor room as well as outdoor patios. The Gravity also has a motel where those who wish may book a room for the night. Next meeting will be at the Gravity to visit and make a decision on that. May the winter weather cooperate......

Joe Guzzi is our official *music man for the day*. Kevin T met with Joe and vouches for "95% of his musical choices" :D   Kevin encouraged sending emails to John Carney who offered to collect any *must have on the songlist* choices to coordinate with Joe. You can send those musical requests to slccmailbox-reunion@yahoo.com and I will forward them on to John C.

Mary Moon Dzielak is collecting names and emails of alumni who went to school with our class throughout the years. We'll invite them to come. Mary Ann Spellman Young has offered to help with that as well. If you think of anyone who went to St Rose who isn't on the Alumni list, send names to slccmailbox-reunion@yahoo.com and I will forward them to Mary and Mary Ann.

Ellen Coleman Hamilton's sister has generously offered to make CDs, with photos of our classmates through the years, set to music, for each of us to take home as a keepsake. We think it's a fabulous idea and thank Ellen and Ann for their efforts! Everyone will need to email photos to Ellen/Ann for inclusion on the CD, so dig out your old photo albums and start scanning. More info on where to email them will be forthcoming.

The Hills are Alive...

Attention everyone! It has been announced to our listening ears that one Mr Joseph Guzzi is willing and able to provide the music for our reunion. Many thanks to Mr Guzzi and his extensive collection of  "every piece of recorded music since 1965 forward"  (as quoted by Mr John Carney). I am assured that aside from the iconic musical favorites of the Huns, the  "softer side of rock-n-roll"  will also be represented to meet the approval of the Hunnies (as also quoted ~promised~ by one Mr John Carney.. so we're holdin' ya to it JC! We're holdin' ya to it!! :P  )

One topic of importance that has come up is how many of you are seriously planning to attend our 40th reunion.  Tentative reunion date is early September 2012.  PLEASE  click on  COMMENTS  just below and let us know either way!

Decisions.. Decisions!!

We had a meeting today and got a ball rolling. Roll call included Kevin C, Kevin T, Art, Sharon V, Sharon P, Tricia, Bev and Sheila.

We narrowed down dates for the reunion to- 1st choice: Sunday, September 2, 2012 (Labor Day weekend) in consideration of out of towners who may be *coming home* for that holiday and travel plans, or- 2nd choice: Saturday, September 8, 2012, depending on availability of the place.

After much deliberation and discussion of the pros and cons regarding several places, we came to the consensus that The Mondale Country Club, outdoor pavilion, starting around 3 or 4 pm to ? would be an optimal choice. It has outdoor "picnic grove" accommodations for a casual affair, the potential to move indoors in case of inclement weather, easy access, decent food, good service, and affordable pricing. Here is a glance at their menu which specifics catering ongrounds for large and small parties. Kevin C is following up with them for date availability and menu/accommodations specifics.

We'd like to ask you several things to help from afar.
